Vigona, a.s.
Formerly, Vigona was a small, out-of-date production plant, traditionally producing woven textile. After Expandia's capital entry into Vigona, the strategy of a change to exclusively non-woven textile and industrial fabrics was quickened. The most important suppliers for automobile and industrial filtration fields became Vigona's main clients.
As a majority shareholder, Expandia realized new investments in technologies allowing a growth of both work productivity and product quality. In 1997, a new thermo-bonding machine was launched; subsequently, as a reaction to the growing demand of the automobile industry, a modern technology of needlepunch textile was purchased and launched in 2002. A significant impetus for a long-term development of the company was the 2003 decision of Expandia to build an all-new production plant at a 10-hectare piece of land in the Svitavy industrial zone; most of Vigona's production activities were transferred there, including its two state-of-the-art needlepunch textile production lines.
In 2004, negotiations were started with the international strategic partner FIBERTEXT AS that allowed Vigona to join its international trade network and that subsequently bought Expandia's interest in Vigona. The company's current name is Fibertex, a. s.
